About:Britain
240 hour visa free entry with transit in another country
I am a British passport holder and will be visiting India in the summer. From India I will take a flight via Bangkok (changing planes not coming out of the airport) to Shanghai on the 14th of July. I will travel internally to Guilin and then to Beijing. On the 24th of July I will leave Beijing and go to Bangkok for one night. After that I will return to India from Thailand.
I am confused if this will count as going from India - China - Thailand or because I have stopped in Thailand it will count as going from and returning to Thailand, making me ineligible for visa free entry. Please can you clarify?

Wilson, I'm sorry to inform you that your current itinerary does not qualify for the 240-hour visa-free transit policy. According to the regulations, this benefit applies only when your entry and exit points to/from mainland China are located in two different countries OR in eligible special administrative regions (Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwan).
Unfortunately, your travel plan shows both arrival and departure points situated within Thailand, which legally constitutes a round-trip itinerary rather than a transit scenario. To comply with this requirement, you would need to adjust your routing so the preceding and subsequent destinations form separate jurisdictions. I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and recommend revising your travel arrangements accordingly to meet the visa-free transit criteria.
