If you purchase a morning session ticket (admission between 8:30 and 12:00) for the Forbidden City, no need to leave by 12:00. You can stay until the daily closing time (17:00 in peak season, 16:30 in off-season), but note that morning session tickets are no longer valid for entry after 12:00.
