Hike from Simatai Great Wall to Jinshanling Great Wall
Hello! We plan to stay overnight at Gubei Water Town and do a morning hike from Simatai Great Wall at the water town to Jinshanling. Is it possible to do such hike? If so, how long does it take?
Thank you!

Yes, hiking from Simatai Great Wall to Jinshanling Great Wall is feasible. The entire route is about 10 km and takes 4–5 hours. Start from the Simatai scenic entrance and walk eastward along the wall to Jinshanling. The path is unbroken, but some sections are steep (e.g., single-sided wall sections)—wear non-slip shoes and carry enough water.
Notes:
Simatai Day Tour is open 9:00–17:00 (advance tickets required); Jinshanling closes at 18:00. Depart before 8:00 AM for ample time.
Separate tickets are needed: Simatai ¥40, Jinshanling ¥65 (no combined tickets).
After hiking, there’s no direct public transport back to Gubei Water Town. Pre-book a return vehicle or take a taxi (40 minutes, ¥150).
