Who do you listen to when the Great Wall says' no regrets' versus' regrets'?

As a foreign tourist who loves traveling, before coming to China, "Beijing tourist spots" was a high-frequency search term in my travel guide. And The Great Wall, a well-known name among tourist attractions in Beijing, has always shone at the top of my travel list. However, before setting out, I also heard two different voices: some people said that the Great Wall was "regretful not to go", while others roast that they were "regretful to go". Who should I listen to? With this curiosity and anticipation, I embarked on a journey to the Great Wall.

Encountering the Great Wall for the first time: a mixture of shock and awe

I have chosen Badaling Great Wall as my first stop. When I stood at the foot of the Great Wall and looked up at the giant dragon winding and hovering among the towering mountains, my heart was deeply shaken. The ancient and solid city wall, after the baptism of time, still exudes a majestic aura. I slowly climbed up the stone steps, and every brick and stone beneath my feet seemed to tell the story of a thousand years of history. Touching the mottled city walls, I seem to feel the wisdom and sweat of ancient craftsmen, and a sense of awe surges in my heart. At this point, I completely understand those who say 'don't regret it'. The Great Wall is like a three-dimensional history book, which can last for a thousand years at a glance. Missing it would truly become a great regret during travel.

Climbing Challenge: Fatigue and Perseverance Coexist

However, the journey to the Great Wall was not smooth sailing. As the height of the climb increases, the stone steps become steeper and my footsteps become heavier. Sweat soaked through my clothes, and my legs were as heavy as if they had been injected with lead. I began to doubt whether my decision was really like those who say 'regret going' and chose the wrong way of traveling. But watching the tourists coming and going around me, some encouraging each other, some persevering, I ignited my fighting spirit again. I told myself that since I'm here, I can't give up easily. So, I gritted my teeth and climbed up step by step. Finally, I arrived at a beacon tower and stood on it, overlooking the magnificent mountains and rivers. All my exhaustion vanished into thin air. At that moment, I felt proud of myself for persevering and deeply appreciated the charm of the Great Wall.

Great Wall scenery: stunning and unique, unforgettable

Strolling along the Great Wall, every scenery intoxicates me. The distant mountains undulate and contrast with the blue sky and white clouds, creating a picturesque scenery. The Great Wall rises and falls with the mountain terrain, sometimes disappearing into the mountains and forests, and sometimes leaping on the top of the mountains, like a dynamic ribbon. Especially at sunset, the golden sunlight shines on the Great Wall, casting a mysterious glow on it, making the whole world warm and peaceful. I took out my camera and kept pressing the shutter button, wanting to freeze this beauty forever. I think even those who say 'regret going' will be moved when they see such a beautiful scenery.

Cultural Experience: Deep and Diverse Integration

In addition to magnificent natural scenery, the Great Wall also contains profound cultural heritage. On the Great Wall, I met many enthusiastic locals who told me the historical stories and legends of the Great Wall. From the poignant legend of Meng Jiangnu crying over the Great Wall, to the important role of the Great Wall in ancient military defense, every story has given me a deeper understanding of the Great Wall. In addition, I also tasted local delicacies, such as Roasted Whole Lamb, Lvdagur (Glutinous rice rolls with Sweet Bean Flour), and felt the unique food culture of Beijing. These rich cultural experiences have added a touch to my love for the Great Wall.
